Across six counties, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank works alongside more than 1,000 community partners to bring food to our neighbors. One of those incredible organizations is Villa Mercede Apartments, a nonprofit community on Cleveland’s West Side dedicated to its senior and disabled residents.
Lexie, the building’s service coordinator, works to connect residents with the resources they need to thrive. A key part of that is the Federal Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) also known as our Senior Box program.
“Many of our residents rely on the Senior Boxes because the food is nonperishable,” Lexie shares. “They can save it until they really need it, which gives them peace of mind.”
Those essential senior boxes are packed with care by dedicated volunteers at the Food Bank’s Partner Distribution Hub on Coit Road. Lexie sees the direct impact of this partnership.
“Without you guys packing all of this, we couldn’t do our part to help our community,” she says. “The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is amazing. They have helped us reach so many people, so many homes … we are absolutely grateful.”
Thanks to donors and volunteers like you, we can provide these vital meals to our senior neighbors, ensuring they have the nutrition they need to stay healthy.
Your giving makes all of this help possible.
