Serving Those Who Served Us

Veterans find food and family at this pantry.

For some veterans, the greatest bond doesn’t end when service does. In Ashtabula County, that bond lives on at Feed Our Vets — one of over 1,000 Greater Cleveland Food Bank program partners working to end hunger in our region.

This unique pantry not only provides nutritious food to veterans facing tough times, it offers something just as important: community.

Veterans like Bobby show up not just for a bag of groceries — but to give back. “A veteran [can be] too proud to ask for help,” he explains. “And with this group here, it’s veterans. We’re a family, so they don’t feel bad about accepting food or help.”

That sense of belonging goes a long way — especially for those raising grandchildren or navigating retirement on limited incomes. “Many of the vets in this area are raising their grandchildren and everything,” George says. “And for them, it’s a tight situation.”

The food provided by the Greater Cleveland Food Bank helps lift that burden — and gives families the breathing room they need.

“This makes the difference,” Bobby says. “It puts them over the hump and gives them more. They don’t feel as desperate about life and stuff when they have extra food.”

Thanks to your support, veterans and their families don’t have to face hunger alone. You help nourish their bodies — and their spirits. Because no one who served our country should ever go hungry!
