"You're Making A Huge Difference"

With school being out and free and reduced-price school breakfast and lunch programs pausing for the summer, many hardworking families in Northeast Ohio are stressed about where they will get food to feed their kids for the summer.

“I have a family of four at home, so it’s just becoming a little bit expensive for us,” says Rheanna. She adds that even though her husband works a full-time job, it isn’t enough to keep up with the high grocery prices to feed her family.

Rheanna prioritizes fresh produce to feed her family. Receiving food is helpful for them, but receiving fresh fruits and vegetables to help her children grow and stay energized is even better. However, Rheanna mentions that items like vegetables are getting expensive. That’s why last year, the Food Bank distributed 40,328,521 pounds of nutritious food through our more than 1,000 program partners and our Rydzewski Family Healthy Choice Market.

To Rheanna, ensuring everyone receives the food and nutrition they need is a community effort. “It’s a very good thing for a community. I’m very thankful,” she says.

Rheanna hopes when she gets into a position where she has some extra money, she will be able to give back to those who helped her when she and her family were struggling to make ends meet.

“You’re making a huge difference. For some people that are just having a hard time financially, a huge one.”

Friends like you who support the Food Bank’s mission provide people like Rheanna with plenty of gratitude.
