“We want people to feel like this is a home away from home, where they can relax, tell jokes, and have fun,” says Cassaundra, manager of Euclid Senior Programs at the Euclid Senior Center (ESC). The ESC is a hub for senior citizens to gather for community, activities, and, most importantly, nourishing food provided by the Food Bank in partnership with the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging.
With many seniors on a fixed income and some on restrictive diets, having access to nutritious meals makes a huge difference.
Cassaundra describes the congregate meals for seniors as necessary for the center’s mission. “Bringing back congregate lunch, even in a different format [after the pandemic], allowed us to see them, connect with them, ask how they were doing, and link them to resources.”
She says, “Our partnership with the food bank is really good because you have additional resources that we can connect our seniors to. It is very helpful to have a local partnership.”
The ESC is one of the 1,000+ program partners in six counties the Food Bank works with to ensure neighbors in the community receive the nutritious food and important resources they need. Thank you for what you do to make programs like this possible!
Because of people like you, we can help more Northeast Ohio families and seniors get everything they need to thrive. Will you give again now to help more neighbors?
