Greater Cleveland Food Bank Holiday Distribution & Holiday Hot Meals

Legislators Pitch In and Help Distribute Fresh Produce at the Food Bank

Thursday, December 20, 4 p.m.

WHAT: As many prepare for the holidays, the need remains high for those served by the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. The Food Bank’s two largest distribution days happen in November and December. On November 17, the Food Bank and our partners served more than 7,000 families. Other times of the year, those same distributions serve about 2,000. On December 20 at 4 pm, the Food Bank will host its monthly produce distribution. Last year, the December distribution helped 762 families with more than 42,000 pounds of fresh produce. Legislators who representing parts of the Food Bank’s service areas will show their holiday spirit by helping distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to clients at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Beyond their partner and on-site produce distribution, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank has prepared a list of hot meal sites that will be open to help those struggling to put food on the table. The list is attached.

Scheduled to volunteer as of today are staff from Senator Rob Portman’s office; staff from Congresswoman Marcia Fudge’s office; State Senators Matt Dolan, John Eklund, and Larry Obhof; State Senator Elect Nickie Antonio; State Representatives Janine Boyd and Kent Smith; Cuyahoga County Councilors Shontel Brown and Dale Miller; and Cleveland Councilman Mike Polensek

• Volunteering at the produce distribution (Photo Op) 4 pm - 4:30 pm
• Other photo ops are available throughout the day with volunteers and staff working in our warehouse
• Clients lining up for the produce starting at 3 p.m.
