Two Given Food Bank Volunteers of the Year Awards

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank presented its Volunteer of the Year awards to two people who have volunteered more than 100 hours each over the past year helping those in need in our community to apply for Food Assistance.

Dave Brinker and Terry Rounds were both recognized for their outstanding service to our SNAP, formerly Food Stamps, outreach program. The awards were presented at the Food Bank's 2014 Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Ceremony.

The Motley Few, a group of mostly retirees which volunteers twice a week, was named the Food Bank's Volunteer Group of the Year.

Other highlights of the Annual Meeting include:

- The announcement that the Food Bank met its goal to provide 45 million meals in the past year, more than 5 million more than the previous year

- Nearly 13,000 children were served by our kids programs

- Mobile pantry distributions were up 43 percent over the previous year

- More than 14,000 volunteers served 67,393 hours over the past year

- More than 12,000 SNAP applications were completed by our staff, volunteers and partner agencies - making possible 11.6 million meals
