As the population of seniors in Northeast Ohio - and the nation - continues to grow, we know we need to remain vigilant in protecting this population from hunger.
Beyond senior programs like Senior Markets, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, Grocery Delivery, and Senior Prepared Meals, the Food Bank also provides nutrition education and SNAP assistance.

Senior SNAP and other public benefit enrollment is facilitated by the GCFB’s Help Center and Outreach staff. We screen seniors for SNAP eligibility, educate them about the benefits of applying for SNAP and enroll them in SNAP benefits. We know that older Americans who qualify for SNAP are significantly less likely to participate in the program than other demographic groups with several factors contributing to low participation numbers.
Many seniors face enrollment barriers including stigma, mobility, technology and are discouraged by widespread misinformation about how the program works and who can qualify. Through the GCFB, seniors have the opportunity to contact our Help Center directly and can speak with a Benefits Access Counselor who will help complete their application over the phone using voice signature.
To receive SNAP assistance from our Help Center or to have our Outreach team come to your location to provide assistance, please call 216.738.2067.
