Ways to Volunteer with the Food Bank
Food Packing and Sorting
Volunteers help sort and repack non-perishable food that has been recently donated. It is later distributed to local food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.
Volunteers assist in hands-on food preparation. Kitchen volunteers help prepare hot meals and lunch bags that are distributed to local hot meals sites and youth centers.
One of the Food Bank’s important goals is to distribute fresh, nutritious food. Volunteers assisting in our produce distributions help sort and give out fresh produce to families in need.
Our Help Center- dedicated to connecting more individuals in need with the program assistance they need – allows callers and walk-in clients the opportunity to complete an application for several government assistance programs.
Volunteers are needed to assist in the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s Help Center with electronic filing, making copies, conducting over-the-phone client surveys and pre-screening benefits applications. To register for a Help Center volunteer shift, volunteers must have already completed no less than 6 hours of volunteering in other areas of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
